Boys RV Trip 2015 - Part 2

After our wonderful stay in Oak Creek, we loaded up.....
Picked up our favorite Uncle Adam....
And headed to 4 corners where the boys were amazed by the 4 states meeting in one place....together.....
 And in separate states!
We also paid respect to the Navajo Code Talkers - what an amazing story.....
Awesome displays and tributes.....Dylan especially was enthralled.....
And so humbling to hear how successful they were and so grateful for their contributions....
We then arrived at the beautiful Anamis River in Durango.....
Our site was small in comparison, yet beautiful....
It was great to have The Addie with us and enjoying the outdoors.....
And we hiked to Baker bridge where Butch Cassidy and Sundance made their famous leap....

We spent a little time in Durango looking around.....

And of all things in the shops and galleries were the peaceful Tibetan Monks tour
doing their prayer chalk artistry.....very House of Cards....very mesmorizing!
While the boys were ooooing and awwwwwing in the fishing gear stores I popped into the Antique store and found these treasurers - 50 percent off!  Love Vintage Christmas stuff....

We all took turns cooking dinner....Dylan amazed us with his Lemon Chicken Pepper....

This boys loves all things nature and all things cooking.....
 It was delish......
Not to be outdone little brother Brody stepped it up by making us HoBo packets.....

Equally delicious and he was quite proud of his efforts....

 And those berries we picked.....
Ended up in some yummy pancakes for one of our breakfasts.....

Brody discovered lots of driftwood for his walking stick project.....
And we sat around the camp fire for hours, eating.....

And talking and just hanging out.....hours passed before we knew it.....

On the way back to Flagstaff we stopped at the Dinosaur Tracks!
It was so random and fun....just a wide spot in the road with native Americans sitting around selling their jewelry stands and asking for donations to show you the ruins.....
They carried bottles of water and poured it on the tracks to highlight the tracks....mom and baby below....
 And petrified dinosaur eggs!
We found lots of blood stones that have healing powers.....
And searched for hidden treasurers all over the grounds.....someday it will be all locked up and no one can touch anything and all commercialized....so happy they could see it up close and so free and fun.....I used to go to Montezuma Castle in AZ and it was wide open for us to crawl around in and free and no guards or commercialism....such a great memory....
And soon we were back in Flagstaff and dropping off The Addie so he could head back to Phoenix.....and we decided to go back to stay at our little oasis at Oak Creek for  more creek time...

More staring at beauty time....

More catching tadpoles, crawfish and minnow time...

More mashing berries.....
And staining walking stick time.....
3 of 18 and yes, he did all 18.....
So now our trip is just a memory in our travel diaries....
And we dream about our next getaway!!!!

Boys RV Trip 2015 - Part 1

We’re back home after our 2015 RV trip through Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado and California.

The trip was amazing.... I felt renewed, refreshed, regenerated, reacquainted, reawakened, rebuilt, renovated, and remarkably rested and so so grateful to have serious bonding time with each other, our grandsons and The Addie.

Then we unloaded......and all that was cast aside for about a week! Lost count of loads of laundry, things to clean and put away, stacks of mail to catch up on, some consulting responsibilities, etc., etc., etc.

So as I slowly crawl my way back to some sort of semblance....I can reflect now on our most wonderful trip.....spoiler alert - lots of pictures so you may want to bale here!

The boys helped pack up.....they said we brought too much food and we did, but we don't like to stop at stores when we RV we like to stay away from civilization as much as we can.

As a tradition, mommy designed travel shirts with our travel destination....Rocky approved!

Our first stop was the Goldfield Ghost Town in Arizona....the boys have been hooked on 'Legend of the Superstitions' through books and tv so they were excited to visit the old ghost town....
And of course....the mighty Superstition Mountains/Lost Dutchman's Mine that I also was enthralled with at their age....

We were lucky that Aunt Shannie and Uncle Adam met up with us....the boys call Aunt Shannie 'The Rock Hound' as that girl knows and loves her rocks!  She helped them pan for gold and other minerals!

Best $6.00 of the trip we spent!

Lots and lots of different keepers....
And lots of pieces of Garnets
That GiGi is using in a locket necklace....Thanks boys!
The famous Weavers Needle.....they were amazed and even found arrowheads (that Aunt Shannie and I bought at the gift shop and hid)....hey....its all about the memories!
And after our oh so hot July day in the desert - we refreshed at Uncle Bo's pool in Scottsdale
With lots of cannonballs and Superman's.....
And a great big steak dinner bbq cowboy style and refreshing watermelon - yum!
The next morning we drove up to Oak Creek where I spent every summer of my young life growing up...we had an awesome RV spot in the same park I stayed at so I knew every crook and rock in the creek.
We had days of just hanging out....
 Hiking in the creek....
Discovering new (to them) and old (to me)  beautiful spots....
The boys loved their Army camping shovels we got them....lots of digging happened....
The creek may or may not have been rerouted in some areas....
 Dams were built....
 Swimming holes were swam in...
Crawdads, Minnows and Tadpoles were caught and held in their own habitat....

 Lots of fishing.....not much catching
 Beauty was enjoyed!!!!

And every afternoon the most wonderful showers with thunder and lightening....
Which made lots of time for sling shot practice.....
Until one large lightening bolt struck a tree by our berry patch!

Which made for lots of fun after it cooled down....
And lots of berries to pick.....
We so loved our wonderful time in Oak Creek....but it was time to get back on the road!
