We were fortunate to be able to all be together for Thanksgiving!!!! Kristen, the boys and I drove over to Phoenix to Adam and Shannons the Saturday before Thanksgiving; Brian and Steve joined us on Thanksgiving Day!
We make cornucopia's for the table settings, complete with gourds and pumpkins that the boys brought to arrange in them....Dylan was in charge of this project.
We had lego time and looming time and just hanging out time....it was wonderful....
I walked and walked around Adam and Shannon's neighborhood....I love the rural area they live in....I can hear these donkeys bray from their house....I had to go and get a closer look!
We made murals depicting the plight of the Pilgrims....complete with Indians and drawings of the Mayflower.....Brody could not understand why Dylan did not draw a flower on his Mayflower.....sweet innocence!
We played trains for hours and did really well taking turns!
Aunt Shannie and Uncle Adam were the master chefs and cooked us a great meal!
This girl knows how to cook!
On Saturday we went to Rawhide! After we were released from the jail wagon for not having on western gear we had the best time!
Brody was so into the Wild West....we saw a show about gunfighters and Billy the Kid....he then became Brody the Kid....wore a badge, got sworn in and deputized and kept the town safe....he took this very serious!
Dylan on the other had was way more into panning for gold....he scored lots of nuggets!
Brody the kid was not happy when mommy and daddy told him it was time to move on....he drew up his guns and they soon got in line!
Kristen and The Addie enjoyed a little sarsaparilla!
And this is how the West was Won!
After our wonderful day at Rawhide, my handsome son in law made my birthday dinner! Along time ago Brody decided he wanted to have a 60th birthday Hoo Haa (Luau) party. He was head party planner for this event! Brian made the most wonderful Asian Fusion dinner, scallops, shrimp, steak, chicken, fried rice, grilled veggies, miso soup and complimented by delicious sake, beer and wine. It was incredibly yummy! He is an amazing cook!
The evening entertainment was superb.....Since we thought it was not a good idea to have fire inside the house, Brody improvised balloons for the fire dance luau show....he had those things rockin'!
And for a surprise twist, he brought out his six shooters and did a reenactment of the Rawhide Western Show.....I can honestly say no one else has ever had a party like this!
Present time and lots of wonderful and lovely gifts.....and precious cards and spoken tributes. Sniff sniff, love, love.....a perfect way to start my 60's!
And the biggest surprise was this historic story of my family church and scale model my cousins had made for me....it was so touching and will be most treasured......
It was the best of times for sure, family, fun, love and time together!
