A BRAND NEW YEAR....a REDO....a FRESH START - who's ready????? ME!
First, wrapping up a bit of Christmas I did not post last week.....it all started off so nice and quiet....
Our official family Christmas theme picture....SNOWFLAKES!!!
Christmas picture of my GRAND DOGS....all decked out....so dang cute
They have their daddy's nose and their mommy's eyes....
I added to the boys Fisher Price Christmas toys....an ice skating rink, large tree and sled....they play with this for hours....
Mostly Brody.....
So after the big day....(which around 12/22 all the decorations start suffocating me and I think I am one jingle bell away from a hoarders show candidate)....I started my New Years Purge....started in the toy room/guest room.....worked and worked...filled bags and bags....
Organized most of the toys in the drawers....
The rest fit on their little shelf....moved my Grandmothers dresser to the other side of the room....
And it cleaned up nice.....a bit more floor space....then worked on the rest of the downstairs....
The boys slept over NY Eve....we had so much fun......put my NY Day postcard on the holder I bought last fall on Spoon River Drive (love it, Thx Biz for talking me into it!)
Dylan is my dad reincarnated when it comes to breakfast.....he helped cook this one and it is his standard....6 pieces of bacon, scrambled egg, hash browns....we call this the 'PaPa Special'....
I have been in search of this coffee table for years....Pottery Barn only made it one year and it was soooooo pricey....I could just not justify it. Randomly I check on Craig's List and found this right after the new year. I had to drive Steve's Monster truck down to pick it up in Pacific Beach....from the looks of the place I would love it if this table could talk....I love it in my living room and with my Beach Cottage theme....
The top is a slide out drawer and you can change out the 4 boxes and redecorate....big plans for this sweet find....at a fraction of the cost. Now have to sell my old table....
Since my birthday I have wanted to do my Locks of Love....it was one thing after another....finally this week I made the appt. You have to go to a certified salon and lucky for me my beautiful niece works at one and I would not want anyone else but her to do this....here is a picture of the back....before....
And my lovely niece holding it after she sheared it off....18"
And the back of my hair now.....really really short....a little too short, but happy to donate my hair to someone that needs it.....
And then....Steve was upstairs with a sore back (he has to have a epidural on Monday) so I decided to heat up something in the oven....and the room started filling up with smoke....I opened the door of the oven and flames came roaring out! I closed the door, yelled for Steve and he came flying down the stairs, grabbed the fire extinguisher (please make sure you all have one) and put out the flames....and the smoke rolled out....you could not see across the room....
We did not have to call the FD and got out fans and then poured salt all over it to be sure....
The extinguisher 'goo' was everywhere....I mopped and cleaned every two hours and it would just not clean up....so we called the insurance company....
And the troops rolled in.....
It will take days as they are washing every wall, every item will be steam cleaned, every jar, spice container, dish and utensil in my kitchen is being cleaned....
Oh and remember that cleaned up and organized Toy/Guest room........not so much now
Luckily it is warm and sunny....we have set up camp in the garage next to the Pony....
We have our morning coffee and tea....then bring back food to eat at mealtime....
Homeless Rocky is right by our side....
Do you think it is a sign I should give up cooking for good?
They had to blow out all the vents and ac and heat units....
I guess when it is done it will be good.....
Is your New Year off to a good start too??????
