Hamma Na Hammana ....Jackie Gleason Style

I loved watching Jackie Gleason and the Honeymooners for so many reasons....I loved their simple minimalism apartment (apparently not enough to mimic that in my life) and the theme of him as a hard working man just trying to do better in life and having these simple plans that turn into complex trysts of misunderstanding and confusion (that part of life I do mimic!)  I loved it when he would get all gnarled up and was speechless and all he would say is hamma na hammana hammana.....when I think of this week - that is exactly how I would describe it!

I was happy to go on a Valentine photo shoot with Kristen, Dylan and Callie - she is such a good puppy and such a good traveler.

At long last I found the last end table to finish my Beach Cottage themed living room/dining room.  I am happy with it (for the time being...I think it might need a pop of color)
Here is a close up of the table I found....I tried to get several from Craig's list and just could never connect....so one day I had a few extra minutes and went to my favorite row of antique and thrift stores and found it....I think it is perfect - height, width and with a sweet little book rack for my books on shells....
I also found this for my boys...Fisher Price village with lots of actions, sounds and movable parts...they love it.
After the Valentine photo shoot I was inspired to decorate for Valentines Day.....some years it is not much....some years it is too much.....but it is only for a short time and the kids and Steve love it so I just pulled it all out this year!
New addition this year - Mercurochrome glass birds....
My token Annalee decoration - have one for every holiday and love them....the conversation hearts are always a favorite....
After I took this I put the heart shaped scatters on the table runner - like that better....
My special gift from Dylan for Christmas....perfect for this table scape....
My vintage valentines on the new coffee table....

Love spread here and there....vintage Valentine Postcards on the bird cage on left...
All the birdie things on the entry table with the bird nest under the Cloque....

 Front door and entry area.....
My other glass red bird in the lamp post by the front door....Love welcome here!
On the guest bathroom vanity....the owl I painted while in Idaho and I found a matching valentine owl hand towel to match!
Brody spent hours with this new find.....love how he has all the fireman liked up around the city
We had  rainy day Valentine Craft time!  Painted birdhouses with Valentine shaped embellishments!
Brody is to the point and goes about it and is done...moves on to the next thing...
Dylan takes his time, loves mixing the colors, always want more projects to do....luckily I had some wooden owls that he could paint....
Our end result....I love how Brody put a big sticker over the hole the bird is suppose to go in :)

We were pleasantly surprised when our favorite Dodger fan (The Addie) came to town for work and spend some time with us!  We got to celebrate his birthday and had a yummy taco dinner and his favorite Lemon Cake from Costco.
Brody set the table and did a wonderful job!
He also helped Uncle Adam unwrap his presents.....I am not sure what Dylan was doing on the floor but I think he and mommy were in a tickle contest....
The Addie liked his wooden Dodger sign - perfect for the new house home office....
I got a scary call from Steve that he was being rushed by Ambulance to the hospital!  I met him there and we were there for hours....the waiting room was jammed and luckily he was already in a room.  While I was waiting until they could take me back a guy checking in passed out cold and hit his head on the cement - it was chaos and unnerving.  Once I made it back to his room it seemed to take forever for the Dr. to come and assess.  They had to do several tests including a spinal puncture (yes it was very painful for him) and they would send me out of the room....I could not stay in the waiting room with all the sickies and chaos so I found a bench outside and watched it rain as all the people were coming and going.....
He was in so much pain and they loaded him up with morphine and all kinds of scary heavy duty drugs (note on the left of us was a anorexic teen getting an intervention and agreeing to go to a rehab facility....on the right was a man that was clean from meth for 2 years and used and got a bad reaction). I have such admiration for ER staff and am so grateful someone wants to do that job.   I turned on the little tv for white noise and calmed myself down.  After all the tests came back non life threatening they released us late in the night and we came home....he is still not well and we head back to the Dr. early tomorrow as soon as we get an appt.
Little Rocky is our faithful companion when we are sick and never leaves our side....notice he has one eye open on guard for his master....
But I drug him out of the bed for a quick Valentine photo shoot of our own! I bought this little arm chair for my grand dog Cosby and it just fit Rocky.   I down loaded the pics and ordered some cute valentine cards from Costco, 1 hr photo....
I did not feel comfortable leaving Steve but he was napping so I figured I would run and be right back.....so I waited and hour and dashed to the 1 hr photo at Costco to pick up the cards and mail them out....then I was there for 2.5 hrs waiting for the prints that never came....they were sorry of course but what could I say but....Hamma Na Hammana

Hibernation....Mentally and Physically....

My mom needed eye surgery and 24/7 care followup.....I happily agreed to go take care of her....and the day I was due to arrive was a blizzard!  During our change of planes our pilot was asked if we were going to divert (to Vegas!) and he said he thought our window of arrival would be fine and Thankfully it was!!!  I arrived late at night and my sister picked me up and we slipped and sledded all the way to her house and this is what greeted us!  Even tho it was mid January I was so in the Christmas spirit!

The next morning this is what her cul de sac looked like!  They plow the primary roads first, then the secondary roads and just pile it up in the center!
All the schools were closed for days....Snow Days!
I was a bit intimidated to drive however it is such a small town (with lots of ditches to get stuck in)  I found that staying in all day was giving me cabin fever and I had to venture out....even if it was just to the closest store!
I took a walk one day and it was wonderful, cold, dangerous and beautiful.....
My mom's little dog is a trooper in the snow....love these little paw prints.....(yes I had to sing...watch our where the huskies go....please don't eat the yellow snow)
And nothing tastes better than mom's home cooking warm pot roast on a cold day!
After her surgery I tinkered around the house on little projects she asked me to do....my mom is not a collector however she loves her little miniatures so I worked on a place to display them...
I did not have access to the things I needed to really display them, so that will be finalized on my next visit....(not like you can run out to Z Gallerie or the mall!)
I did paint my owl and love birds for Valentines day and completed my mom's great grandchild tree....
Six sweet great grandchildren on the family tree.....
And spent time with Dad too.....love his memorial corner....
My sister had a conference people flew in from all over (ski ops) so we made some welcome bags....have to include an Idaho Spud!
 The goodies looked very welcoming!
The snow just kept coming.....shoveling was a must!
This is a picture of our side yard.....wish I would have had a snowmobile!
It was fun to get out for a movie and a hot tottie with friends.....you can really appreciate that in the -5 degree weather!
Mom healed well....I headed home and I admit I really enjoyed my hibernation....it was forced down time which I needed.....it made me slow down and appreciate so many things...it filled me with gratitude for the people in my life and the things I am able to do. Having said that...it was wonderful to get back to this temp on arrival.....
 This sunshiny view.....
 and these sweet boys....
