This week.....slowin it down.....

We were all in favor of slowing it down this week....after  party week it felt good to change it up a bit.....One day after work I took the boys and met Kristen at the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla....when the kids were little we frequented this place so much - they loved it....now, with the Grandsons it is like getting to enjoy it all over again and my how this place has changed (for the better) if you are coming to SD I highly recommend it!

So many outside activities, hands-on tide pools and kids and adults are encouraged to ask questions and touch the animals....the UCSD Biology students work there and are so very good with the kids - Dylan had a million questions and engaged this one student and kept her busy....Brody loved touching and looking at the starfish and sea cucumbers....both students were great with the kids....

Of course we had to climb in the shark for photo op!
I bought the boys goggles for their swim lessons and they looked so cute in them....like cartoon characters.... minions....
Rocky had a follow up visit at the vet and was anxious to leave!
I went to the Thrift Store and found this play board and the front had this little city street graphic, perfect for Brody.....
...and the back had this primary chalkboard boring space....so I wanted to fix it up for Dylan....
I bought some green camo material and green duct tape and turned it into a combat scene for his military play....
Steve, Rocky and I went up North to do some errands and ate outside....loved how Rocky put  his legs on the table....belly up to the bar boy!
I made a craft project for the boys - a parachute man made from card stock and recycled grocery bags....
First they had to color their parachute guy....
 Dylan showing off his guy....
Brody and his guy.....then tie fishing line thru their hands and around the bags....
....and take them out for jumping and parachuting!
....and standing on a chair even makes it more fun.....they are all boy and soon enough they were in the tree (how high can you go?)
And since the calendar if fast approaching July - got some of my 4th of July decorations out....later I put a picture in the Star Frame however only after I ordered pictures from Costco on line - went to Costco and got everything but the pictures and then went back to Costco (Senior Moment #789)
Put a few of my 'smalls' on the lazy susan this year - think I may change out the dark lazy susan for my white one.....the American Flags are from the original Lego Land ....should have bought stock in that company before they came to the US!
Hard to see but the rag garland on the mantle has red, white and blue lights....need to add on to my Political Button collection....guess I will add the Romney one for this year!
The little hutch got some RW&B....put some picture on the birdcage frame, the boys 1st 4th of July, picture of my dad in WWII, picture of Rocky in his RWB jacket and picture of Statue of Liberty we took with a special lens that duplicates portions objectively....
Uncle Sam on his tricycle will greet you at the front door....
I did a RW&B garland on the walkway out front however the fans are drooping - dang those Dollar Store purchases!
....and it would not be a holiday without a Fisher Price Holiday Train for my boys to play with!
Steve hung my stained glass....after multiple trips to and from Home Depot - we have the Wilson curse in that no project will go smooth, no project can be done with any supplies at home nor will ANY project be achieved without many curse words....over the years I have learned to accept it - but not easily ;)
I love the way it looks tho as a finished project!!!
Started to think about decorating the wagon for the parade and what I will wear....Maxi dresses are really in now and I found one at Ross  I loved...it is blue and white however needed some pop of color.   I have seen these awesome rose fabric necklaces on Pinterest for like $50.00 however I just can't pay $50 for a necklace for a dress that was $12!  It is just wrong!  So I decided to try to make one!  I got some solid red cotton material using my JoAnns coupon for $1.87 total....
.....ripped strips of about 2 inches each....
....then turned and twisted away from the core and made several of these cloth roses....
....then I attached them to a matching grosgrain ribbon I had....
....and took the plain Jane dress....
 ...and added a little pop!

I also bought the boys these fun water blasters ..they were so fun and they played with them for hours....Dylan did not want to change into board shorts and stayed fully clothed and got soaked; Brody stripped down however never put on the board shorts.....my two opposites!  Heck - we just go with it!

The Addie and Aunt Shannie joined us and we relaxed with a glass of wine while we watched the water show....Cosby begged his daddy for some goodies....
So that was my week and I loved every minute....(except all the work challenges, the wrong billings, a letter from the IRS, insomnia and frustrations!)  How was your week?

An Evening in Paris aka How Fast did those 30 years go?

Memo to self - Face Facts!  My baby is 30!  How can that be?????  Ugh - musn't dwell on such things!!!

Anyhow, once I owned up to that we started planning her party......she came up with a Fab idea - a throwback prom, complete with theme...'An Evening in Paris'....so plan and prep we did.....all of us were involved....from shopping to planning to prepping to having fun - it was so much fun to work and play together......

First we moved out all the furniture in the family room.....Rocky did not know what to think about all the open space!
Then we built the prom photo back drop....PVC, lights, and many many trips to Target for sheers and draping.....
We used to call these paper lanterns 'Chinese' lanterns....when Dylan was helping he said, GiGi - you can't have Chinese lanterns at a Paris party - this little guy that keeps his GiGi in her place!
Every move we made Rocky was on the spot checking out what was happening....
Food prep!  We had a chocolate fountain, stuffed pasta shells with artichoke and spinach dip, meatballs, orange chicken and caprese appetizers....lots and lots of prep....
My sweet daughter in law Shannie doing all the mini cupcakes, red velvet with buttercream frosting and silver sprinkles, funfetti cupcakes with hot pink frosting and hot pink sprinkles....this girl is amazing....
The birthday girl setting up the bar area....we had a signature drink (The Parisian), 3 kinds of wine and a keg of Sam Adams....
Fresh flowers from my garden all around the house.....
Walking up to the entry way - the Moulin Rouge wreath and PAPER (non chinese) lanterns....
