This time through their eyes.....

We have been blessed to have many nice family vacations and some of our favorites have been in DC.  We decided for the boys fall break, Adam, Kristen and Brian's vacations to head to DC and see DC through the boys eyes.....the only down side was Shannon could not get off work....boo hoo.....we missed you Shannie girl!

I have to honestly say the boys were troopers - planes, trains, automobiles, walking, time changes, lectures.....very well behaved and soaked it all in like little sponges....and I also have to honestly say that DC in 1992 was easier on Gramps and me than 2015....many days - we averaged walking 7.5 miles a day - Gramps and I would retreat to our hotel!

1992--------------------------------------------------2015

The Addie was an incredible tour guide, masterminded the metro and scheduled all the tours and visits and was able to get us into the most amazing places....the White House, Bureau of Engraving and the very best - Oral arguments at the Supreme Court.....it is and always will be an amazing place.  I promise not to bombard you with every detail and the over 300 pictures I took so just a few that feature our boys learning about this great country and all that goes on involved.

Dylan and Brody aka Mr. Lincoln at Bureau of Engraving with 1 mil in 10 dollar bills

Top of Washington Monument on an amazing clear day.....

Fords Theatre where the boys held the Park Ranger captive for over an hour with questions....

Riding the rails aka The Metro

Giant checker board outside our hotel
 National Postal Museum
 Supreme Court
 Thomas Jefferson Memorial
 FDR Memorial
Honoring a true American hero in Arlington
Changing of the guards at Arlington

 Eternal Flame - JFK
 RFK Burial Site
 The incredible Manassas Battlefield
Soldiers carved initials in woodwork as they laid in pain....
Brody reenacts the battle of  Bull Run
Orioles vs. Yankees at Camden Yards
 Ft. McHenry
 Junior Park Rangers of DC!

The Peoples House aka The White House.....I have to say Dylan did not want to go to Obama's house - he holds a grudge when Obama shut down the air show a couple of years ago..... so we had to explain it's the peoples house - he is just the current resident
 Lots of Abraham Lincoln memorials
Iwo Jima  - breathtaking and humbling....
Union Station
 WWII Memorial
 Korean Monument

Vietnam Wall....so painful each and every visit.....
And Dorothy was so right.....there is no place like home......but DC will always be so special to us!
