While I like to think I am organized in many things - the projects I work on is where my disorder of order is evident. Maybe it is suppose to be that way, my structured organized mind needs some kind of relief....I give it a hard enough time!
I updated our travel wall with a picture of our recent road trip. We started this wall years ago and always try and add one picture from a trip we take. Rule: Trip has to be a picture of us somewhere we have never been before. It's fun to reminisce on the places we have been!
Kristen and Brian have an annual Halloween party and create such a fun time for all the kids. They have lots of activities and she found these wooden picture frames for 30 cents each and my mom helped me paint them all kinds of scary Halloween colors.
Then the kids will decorate them with stickers and paint and then they can put a picture of themselves in their costume. So clever that girl!
I had an old sign that was used for décor in a wedding....I painted over the wedding words with some of the Halloween paint.... And added some Halloween scary terms. We sent this home for the kids party and some spider webs to make it spook up a bit!
The guest room window has not had a valance for a long time....I wanted to complete this before my mom came with an idea I have had for years....but never found the time.
Her sister, my precious Auntie Gwen, had a wonderful hanky collection and her children shared it with me. I also had some of my MaMa Auten's hankies so I washed them and ironed them up....found some really cute little close pins.....And hung them as a valance in the guest room. Not a great picture, however the range of colors does make it pretty when the sun comes in and this is a very sunny room! It makes it extra special since such great people owned these pretty little hankies! Looks like I need to shorten that blue one!
And speaking of special people, my cousin has been helping me trace Steve's family roots...such an exciting and time consuming project...but oh so special. Just have to squeeze in time here and there. It is the kind of project you want to sit and do for hours - but who can do that. Every discovery is a gift....
And to find this grave of my many times great grandfather, a Veteran of the Revolutionary War and a list of all the battles he fought in humbled me and made me cry. I really believe that the pride and spirit and love for America I have comes from these roots.
And even tho I know the calendar says October, I completed my search for 24 different children's Christmas books for a book advent for the boys. I thought best to wrap them up before they discovered them.
I numbered them 1 to 24, with 24 being 'The night before Christmas'. I will send them home with them on December 1.
I dried my leaves from our fall road trip and have some great ideas....another project for another day!
I am too embarrassed to include a picture of my project closet which has spilled over to the floor in my office.....'Project Job Security'!
